The Bannock County Fair is Going Wild—August 4–9 in Downey

by | Jul 29, 2025 | Commissioner Press Releases, Highlights, Newsroom

DOWNEY, Idaho — The beloved Bannock County Fair returns to Downey next week with a wild theme: It’s a Jungle Out There! From August 4 to 9, the fairgrounds will be buzzing with food, music, animals, and exciting events for the whole family.

This year’s fair is extra special, as Bannock County unveils its brand-new Exhibit Hall. The new 8,500-square-foot facility replaces four former exhibit halls that were condemned due to age and safety concerns. The absence of exhibit space at last year’s fair left a noticeable void for 4-H displays, artwork, hand-sewn quilts, and local crafts.

To celebrate, the county is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, August 4, at 5 p.m. The public is invited to visit the new space and help kick off fair week.

The Fair is currently accepting entries to be displayed in the new Exhibit Hall. Check out the full list of entries and rules online at bannockcounty.gov/fairgrounds.

Annual Fair favorites will return this year, such as the Bannock County Parade on Wednesday night, August 6, at 5:30 p.m. Stick around afterward for the annual street party with music, food trucks, and even fire dancers.

The rodeo is back on Thursday and Friday nights at 7:00 p.m., with all the best rodeo action and crowd favorites like mutton bustin’. On Thursday night, stay after the rodeo for a free concert from Salt Lake City’s popular rock band Royal Bliss.

All week long, you can also check out the 4-H shows, livestock judging, motocross, a demolition derby, kids’ rodeo events, magicians, and comedy acts. You can find the full schedule in the 2025 Fair Book located on bannockcounty.gov/fairgrounds, and updates are posted on the Bannock County Fair/Rodeo Facebook page.
