REGISTER YOUR NEXT OF KIN
The Bannock County Coroner’s Office is encouraging folks to register their primary next of kin through the DMV. This small step ensures that law enforcement or emergency services can quickly contact your loved ones in the event of an accident or emergency.
To register your next of kind, visit dmv.idaho.gov, click on “Log in to DMV online account,” and follow the instructions to add your primary next of kin. For added peace of mind, you can also include a secondary next of kin.
Beginning July 1st, 2025, DMV representatives will ask customers to designate a primary and/or secondary contact or choose to opt out altogether.

The Bannock County Coroner’s Office is dedicated to the service of the people of Bannock County through the investigation of unattended deaths within its jurisdiction, including all sudden, suspicious, accidental or unexplained deaths.
All investigations conducted by the Bannock County Coroner’s Office are done in accordance with Idaho State law and U.S. Department of Justice guidelines. As such our duties are as follows: identifying deceased individuals, determining cause and manner of death, locating and notifying legal next of kin and generating a written report for every case.

Torey Danner
Bannock County Coroner
Torey Danner was appointed Coroner in 2021 after serving as Chief Deputy Coroner. Danner spent 17 years as a first responder and Incident Commander for the Bannock County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue division. Through this experience, Danner built and developed professional working relationships with every law enforcement agency in Bannock County. Raised in Pocatello, Danner graduated from Pocatello High School. Danner is the first Bannock County Coroner to be certified by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigations. Danner enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing golf, and being with family and friends during his downtime. “I believe in God, hard work, honesty, transparency, and public service.”
