Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner was recently honored with the prestigious Mills Adler Award for his outstanding leadership and dedicated service to county government in the state of Idaho. The award was presented at the annual Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) conference held in Boise.
Danner is the first Bannock County elected official to receive this award since Radene Barker, former County Treasurer, was honored in 2017.
Serving as Bannock County Coroner since 2021, Danner has brought compassion and professionalism to a role that demands both strength and empathy. His leadership has had a lasting impact not only within Bannock County but across the state of Idaho.
Through the Idaho State Association of County Coroners (ISACC), Danner has served in several key leadership positions, including Vice President, Chair of the Education Committee, and recently completed his term as President. He also chairs the ISACC Legislative Subcommittee and serves as the District 5 Representative on the ISACC Board.
Danner’s influence extends to broader state initiatives. He is an active member of the Idaho Criminal Justice Commission’s Coroner Subcommittee, co-leads the Southeast Idaho Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task Force, and contributes to the HIDTA Task Force and the Region 6 Behavioral Health Board. Among his many accomplishments, Danner played a pivotal role in creating and co-sponsoring legislation that established Idaho’s Next-of-Kin database, a vital resource that ensures families can be quickly and compassionately notified during times of crisis.
“Torey exemplifies what it means to serve—through compassion, innovation, and unwavering commitment to justice and public health,” said Jeff Hough, Bannock County Commissioner. “We are proud to see his efforts recognized at the state level.”
About the Mills Adler Award
The Mills Adler Award was established by the Idaho Association of Counties to recognize elected officials who demonstrate exceptional service and commitment to the improvement of county government in Idaho. Named in honor of the late Darwin Mills, Lincoln County Sheriff, and the late Betty Adler, Payette County Treasurer, the award celebrates the spirit of leadership and selfless contribution that both officials embodied.
The Idaho Association of Counties recognizes that a strong and effective organization depends on dedicated individuals willing to give of themselves for the greater good. The Mills Adler Award represents this ideal and promotes continued involvement and leadership within county associations.
