Bannock County, Idaho—Residents and employers in Bannock County are invited to join in on the 2024 Great Idaho Shakeout Drill on Thursday, Oct. 17.
At 10:17 a.m. local time on Thursday, people across Idaho will practice earthquake safety. The Bannock County Office of Emergency Management is encouraging people to participate in the worldwide earthquake drill.
“This is a great opportunity to prepare your family, work, or school for a possible earthquake. Southeast Idaho is in one of the most earthquake-prone regions of the state, so this is something we all need to include in our emergency preparedness efforts,” said Wes Jones, the Emergency Director for Bannock County.
More than 69,000 people in Idaho have registered for the 2024 event, with about 200 in Bannock County. Jones hopes to have more people participate this year than in previous years. In 2021, 868 people in the county joined in on the drill, the highest number in the past four years.
