Public input needed to update Bannock County Land Use & Development Ordinance

BANNOCK COUNTY, Idaho – Bannock County Planning & Development is seeking the public’s help as staff works to rewrite and modernize the county’s Land Use & Development Ordinance.

The proposed update will combine the County’s eight current land use ordinances into a single, comprehensive ordinance. This revision is intended to provide greater clarity, improve efficiency, and eliminate overlapping or redundant language that has built up over time.

“Our goal is to simplify the ordinance so that it’s easier to understand and apply, both for residents and for county staff,” said Tristan Bourquin, Assistant Planning Director for Bannock County. “We want to create a tool that works better for everyone as we plan for the future.”

To ensure the new ordinance reflects the needs and values of the community, the Planning & Development Services staff is inviting the public to share their feedback through a short survey available at bannockcounty.gov/ourfuture. The survey will remain open through October 15 at 5 p.m.

“This is your chance to weigh in on how we manage growth, land use, and development across Bannock County. Your input helps us build a more user-friendly and effective ordinance,” Bourquin said.

In addition to the online survey, Planning & Development will host open houses in the coming weeks to provide more information and gather public input in person. Details about those events will be announced soon.
